While I Was Out: Reviews and Interviews

I've been out of town the past week and haven't been able to keep up with everything that's been going on. So here's me playing catch up:

Covering LIBYRINTH: Melissa Walker is an author and journalist and she does a regular feature on her blog where readers get a behind-the-scenes view of how young adult books get their covers. This is such a great idea because everyone always asks about covers, and the process is not at all obvious unless you've actually experienced it. It was a pleasure being interviewed by Melissa and I'm pleased with the way the story came out. A special shout out to Holly Cupala for requesting LIBYRINTH for a "cover story."

Review on Writing It Out: Beth Revis has written an insightful review of LIBYRINTH on her blog, which is aimed at aspiring young adult authors.  What's particularly cool about Beth's review is how she analzyes what readers can learn from a book and apply it to their own writing.  I learned a lot from reading your post, Beth.  Thanks so much!

A New Review

I just found this review on BlogCritics. Electronic resources librarian (it's hard not to type libyrarian nowadays), Anna Creech writes an informative review that encompasses the book's story without actually giving anything away.  That's not easy to do.  My favorite quote?

Libyrinth has the essential elements of a young adult novel, but because North does not talk down to the reader or turn her lead characters into simpering children, it has a readability that will appeal to older adults as well.
