- "With Libyrinth, I started out writing a book about censorship, and wound up writing a book about peace. During the time that I wrote it, two things happened which shaped the course of the story. One is that our country invaded Iraq, and the other is that I became a Buddhist. The central character, Haly, starts out in a place where she believes she knows who is good and who is bad. Over the course of the story, she learns to abandon those assumptions. The interconnections between censorship, violence and the power of imagination run throughout Libyrinth.
