Calico's Reaction to Boy

Here's a review from Shara White (Calico Reaction) on LiveJournal!

Pearl North starts out with something simple. A world that is THIS way. Characters who are THAT way. The story involves peeling back the layers of the world and the characters and forcing them to reconcile that all is not according to their particular way...There's nothing typical about this tale, not in my opinion. North is gradually building a world that is a wonderful mix of science fantasy, and the moments when this book reminds me that yes, its roots are SF are always delightfully startling.

One is that our country invaded Iraq, and the other is that I became a Buddhist. The central character, Haly, starts out in a place where she believes she knows who is good and who is bad.
