Yes, it's another fully-clothed Man Candy Monday here at Friskbiskit. Hope you don't mind...
It's interesting to note that fashions in other eras did much more to display the male form. And that such eras were not necessarily better ones for women to live in, the view notwithstanding.
Nevertheless, I am put off by today's dichotomy in genderdress. Men's clothes conceal almost everything about their bodies, while women's fashions are all about showing off. I remember someone telling me once that male-to-female cross-dressing is a phenomenon that pops up every time the fashions of the day for men are lacking in ornament and flamboyance. Some people are peacocks at heart, and will find a way to strut their stuff no matter the obstacles. While others of us, regardless of biological gender, will gladly take the baggy pants and sweaters, thank you very much.
Offered in conjunction with Erotica Cover Watch. These imgages were ganked from the steampunk fashion community, who in turn ganked them from madamemodiste.
Hubba hubba! Thanks for sharing these - men in costume is almost an impossible thing to find - I've passed these along to Alex Beecroft, perhaps they would be prepared to negotiate for book covers!

Erastes did indeed pass the link on to me :) Could you tell me who has the copyright for these images, so that I can go and talk to them about putting them on book covers?
They're just lovely, and I agree totally that the view was much better in the past. Bring back breeches and men in stockings, that's what I say.
