Woot! New TJ and Amal Pages!

Just got back from a lovely trip out west to discover that there are new TJ and Amal pages up that I haven't read yet. Woot! Thank you, guys, for helping me nail a vacation dismount. :)

If you haven't read this comic yet, you're missing out. So beautiful, the art and the tender way in which E.K. Weaver tells the story of these two young men traveling across the country together. Sigh.

I'm so excited. Things have been pretty busy lately so I haven't had a chance to announce this yet, but I've been invited to join a group blog featuring a bunch of amazing erotic romance authors who call themselves the Dirty Birdies.

We're all pervs of a feather!

It's just lovely to be asked to be part of something like this. I've been thinking for some time that I'd like to start teaming up with other authors more and what a wonderful way to do that. Big thanks to the whole flock for including me!

Coffee and Porn in the Morning Birthday Bash

 

Heidi Cullinan and Marie Sexton have brought you coffee and porn for the past 365 mornings.

This week they're celebrating the one year anniversary of their blog with free fiction, a live chat, and contests featuring prizes sponsored by Samhain Publishing, Dreamspinner, Amber Quill Press, and Silver Publishing. Grand prize is an ereader donated by Silver publishing.

From Jan. 23-28, they will post five free short stories every day, including one by yours truly. My contribution, Special Ingredient, is a Stan & Gus-Dharma Café crossover. It goes live on the Coffee and Porn blog on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 11 am.

On Friday, Jan. 27 they'll host a live chat in their new chat room from 4-8 pm EST.

Link Love: Adventures in Digital

Author Moira Rogers (who is in fact two women colloborating under one name) has a great blog about the business side of being an ebook author. It's called Adventures in Digital, and it has charts! And actual numbers and data! Woo hoo! 

Seriously, go check it out. Anyone who can make the Amazon 70% royalty offer understandable deserves your attention. It's clear that Moira Rogers is an epublishing enthusiast, as am I. It's also clear that they are businesswomen. I love that combination. ;)

FCC Seeks Further Feedback

Here's an article in the NYT about the FCC, Google, Verizon, and net neutrality. I kind of find it comforting to see that the FCC is as confused as I am.

Is Kindle the New iTunes?

Interesting article from Gizmodo in which Matt Buchanan makes a case for the Kindle platform (not device) being to the digitizing of publishing what iTunes has been to the digitizing of the music industry. I'm not sure I entirely agree with him, and as you know, I'm pretty critical of Amazon's business practices, but he makes an interesting distinction between platform and device, and his argument hinges on the idea that the most ubiquitous platform wins. That's a strong argument. Comments to his post are worth checking out as well.

Link Love: Letters With Character

I just discovered this cool site called Letters with Character where real people are invited to write to the characters in books they've read. It's awesome. @Janet_Reid turned me on to it on Twitter. What's great about it is that it gives people the opportunity to express their frustration, longing, infatuation, disgust, etc. with characters and characters' actions, without taking it out on the author. A nice break. It also highlights the intimate relationship between readers and text.  All in all, very cool.

You're bound to have your own favorite. I've only read a few pages of the site, but so far this is mine.

Codpieces!

On the subject of men dressing to please women, Figleaf posts about men's briefs that are the equivalent of the wonderbra.  I left a comment. And here's some links to codpieces.

Now I desperately want to do a time-travel Stan and Gus story.  "The Enchanted Cod Piece" or some such.  Yeah, I miss S&G.  Those of you who are also fans, I just want you to know that I have not forgotten them. Not at all. In fact, lately I am really jonesing to write about them again. It would be nice to cut loose and do something flat-out ridiculous.  ('Course, some might say I do that all the time already.)

Link Love: I'm Here, I'm Queer, What the Hell Do I Read?

Author Lee Wind writes the kinds of young adult books he always wanted to read back in high school: full of action, fantasy and hot gay passion.  And to help readers find more queer young adult novels, he's got this fabulous blog where he and his readers post reviews of young adult novels with queer characters.  There are a lot more of them than you might think!  In addition, he also posts news, historical quotes from the gay liberation movement and other items of interest to the queer community.  Not to mention he's got links to some super yummy Star Trek stuff that I've been ganking from him shamelessly for weeks.

So go check out I'm Here, I'm Queer, What the Hell Do I Read, and maybe write a post about your own favorite queer YA book.
